I’m Linas, founder of Hands On Wood Ltd. My journey in construction began over 25 years ago, driven by my passion for wood and a strong engineering background. This naturally led me to carpentry and on-site timber frame construction, where I’ve built extensive expertise over the years.

​

At the core of my work are four key values:

Efficiency – always planning ahead and using innovative methods to save time without compromising quality.
Learning – continuously training, gaining new skills, and expanding knowledge along the way.

After 10 years as a carpenter, my brother and I started our own company. Five years later, I realized traditional construction wasn’t enough—I wanted to push boundaries. That’s when I discovered the modern off-site construction of prefabricated timber frame houses, a method that perfectly aligned with my expertise and vision.

I began working in this industry in 2018, gaining valuable experience and knowledge before founding Hands On Wood Ltd. Since then, I have personally hand-picked each member of my team, ensuring that every single one is a highly experienced carpenter who understands and shares my vision.

To stay ahead in timber frame construction, my team and I have trained in Germany, learning from a country with centuries of expertise in precision timber building. These hands-on trainings have refined our skills and strengthened our approach to construction.

In 2019, Hands On Wood Ltd became the sole assembly team provider for Streif UK, in partnership with Streif GmbH in Germany—a European leader in off-site manufactured timber frame buildings. That year, we assembled and installed over 10,000m² of timber frame structures for the commercial and education sectors.

In 2020, my team began working with Baufritz, the German pioneers in eco-friendly, high-end prefabricated timber homes, known for their sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs that create healthy living spaces.

Always looking for new opportunities and challenges, in 2023, Hands On Wood Ltd collaborated with another family-run German company—Meisterstück-HAUS, which has over 120 years of experience in constructing bespoke, energy-efficient timber homes.

Over the past five years, we have built and supported German crews in assembling nearly 50 luxurious, sustainable timber frame homes across the UK.
